Changeling characters may not take Archetypes and humans who become changelings lose their Archetype and must replace them with Legacies instead

NATURE : This is who your character is at their core, their true selves
-
DEMEANOR: This is the public face of your character, the face they show the world. This is simply an act, but your true nature will show through if tested. Your demeanour gives NO bonus. Its just an act after all, an act that quickly falls when your nature is tested.

Example: A sex worker may have the Nature of a "Capitalist " and the Demeanour of a "Bon Vivant ", The promise of hedonistic joy displayed by the demeanour quickly evaporates when someone tries to skimp on the cheque, triggering the -nature- of the character.

Example 2: A person with the nature of "Caretaker" and the demeanour of "Bravo" might appear to be a bully and a brute, but secretly inside they do this to protect their flock from danger.

Demeanour is the act, Nature is the truth. The demeanour can fall, the nature cannot.

A character must choose ONE nature and ONE demeanour from the list of Archetypes below. (if you are going to choose at all)
A character can NOT act contrary to their nature, they may act contrary to their demeanour however.
​
NATURE BONUS:

gives your character ONE type of action that cannot be altered by emotional or mental control. (at least not without extreme difficulty)

For example a prude could not be made into a "slut" and a coward could not become a warrior. A power has to specifically state that it can change a characters Nature in order to force a character to act against their nature. This just makes sure that a characters type is respected by flippant use of powers.

Remember you have ONE nature and if it is tied to a cause it is ONE cause.

Double Edged sword. You cannot -choose- to act against your nature either. This can be a great source of roleplay. A benefactor can be manipulated for instance by putting a bystander in desperate need or peril. A capitalist cannot for instance -refuse- a really good deal. A nature is your core being, its who you are in your heart of hearts.

Natures are entirely "optional" ,although you can ONLY pick them on character generation. They do work to flesh out your character and give them a "code" to live by, be it for good or ill.

ADDICT:
Become utterly fixated on one passion. (Put that passion on your sheet)
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to abandon their addiction.
ADHERENT: (State your cause)
Pledge yourself to one cause above everything else.
NATURE BONUS
cannot be made to betray your cause.

ADJUDICATOR:
Work to solve problems that affect your surroundings
NATURE BONUS
Must always strive to solve problems, cannot be persuaded to give up.

ALPHA:
Lead other by example.
NATURE BONUS
Cannot be made to defer to another's leadership.

ARCHITECT: (State what you are trying to build?, e.g a political party, a government, a social movement )
Strive to create something out of a sense of greater purpose. Your strength is Purpose, while your weakness is Obsession.
NATURE BONUS:
Must strive to build something of lasting value, cannot be persuaded to give up their purpose.

ARTISTE:
Try to reach others through your creations
NATURE BONUS:
It is in your nature to create art, you cannot be made to abandon artistic endeavours.

AUTOCRAT:
Seek power and prominence for its own sake. Your strength is Leadership and your weakness is Dictatorship.
NATURE BONUS:
Must strive to gain control over a group or organizations, your power grabbing attempts can be -concealed- but you will always be scheming to take control.
BARBARIAN:
Keep your distance from civilization, instead trusting the old ways
NATURE BONUS:
Attempts to civilize you or force you to follow social etiquette will always fail. However you can never refuse a challenge either.

BENEFACTOR:
Work to protect the people around you. Your strength is Altruism, while your weakness is Obligation.
NATURE BONUS:
You can never ignore someone in desperate need of help.
​
BETA:
Act as supporter for your group’s superior
NATURE BONUS:
You may never be forced to act against your group leader, for good or for ill.
​
BON VIVANT:
Try to enjoy life as long as it lasts. Your strength is your Love of Life, while your weakness is Hedonism.
NATURE BONUS:
Can never pass up an opportunity for fun, can never be made to act in a hateful manner.

BRAVO:
Use your power to bully others into submission. Your strength is Strength, while your weakness is Anger.
NATURE BONUS:
Can only achieve your agenda through brutishness or intimidation, forbidden from using charm or guile ,must attack when someone attempts to bully or intimidate you.

CAPITALIST:
Strive to make profit by selling your commodities
NATURE BONUS:
Can never be compelled to give anything away for free (Favour for Favour is fine) but you must always -benefit- in some intrinsic way from transactions. (you are the judge of how much a service is worth to you)

CARETAKER: (State your flock)
Shepherd the flock around you to safety. Your strength is a Sense of Duty, while your weakness is Impatience.
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to abandon the flock and must help them, no matter what they have done to bring danger to themselves.

CELEBRANT: (State your passion, maybe a group or a concept or a cult)
Take great joy out of your passion. Your strength is Passion, while your weakness is Intemperance.
NATURE BONUS:
Always strive to convert another character to your passion. Cannot be made to give up the passion.

CHAMELEON:
Constantly alter your mannerisms and appearance
NATURE BONUS
Cannot hold down a steady job, unless that job involves consistently altering your behaviour and appearance. (such as an actor or an escort who wears many outfits and plays many roles) Cannot be forced into a single role beyond a night.

CHILD:
Be ignorant about the larger world around you. Your strength is Innocence, while your weakness is Immaturity.
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to understand the larger world around you. You strive to get someone to take care of these problems for you.
​
COMPETITOR:
Put yourself against the world’s odds. Your strength is Striving, while your weakness is Competiveness.
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to back down from a challenge

CONFORMIST:
Play your strengths in groups. Your strength is cooperation, while your weakness is Low Self-Esteem.
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to act against the societal norms of your characters main social grouping.

CONNIVER:
Seek ways to let others work for you. Your strength is Cleverness, while your weakness is Envy.
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to give an "100 % Honest" answer.

COWARD
Hide your true self from all others
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to give intimate or personal details about yourself.

CREEP SHOW
Strive to inspire shock and disgust for show
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be forced to "Behave" in a pleasant way by the behest of another.

CRUSADER
Fight for an ideal of yours. Your strength is Zeal, while your weakness is Fanaticism.
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to abandon your cause. (Cause must be chosen with this trait)

CURMUDGEON
Constantly expect the worst to happen. Your strength is your Critical Eye, while your weakness is your Lack of Imagination.
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to "Cheer Up" or "Take A Chance" or otherwise embrace new ideas.

DEFENDER
Protect something over yourself
NATURE BONUS:
Cannot be made to abandon your charge (Object or Person or group of persons, specific)

GAMBLER
Trust in luck to take care of you.
NATURE BONUS:
May reroll 1 dice per NIGHT

MASOCHIST
Draw pleasure from suffering and testing your boundaries. Your strength is Devotion, while your weakness is Self-Destructiveness.
NATURE BONUS:
Yield no information under physical interrogation (torture)

SADIST
Inflict pain and misery on others.
NATURE BONUS:
Add +1 to all physical interrogation rolls (torture)
​
SOLDIER
Work within the chain of command to fulfil your duties
NATURE BONUS:
Can not be compelled to disobey a direct order from a superior. Neither can you choose freely to disobey.

STOIC
Maintain your composure under all circumstances
NATURE BONUS:
Can not be compelled to display strong emotions.
THRILL SEEKER
Actively seek the rush of danger. Your strength is Daring, while your weakness is Recklessness.
NATURE BONUS:
Immune to conditions or powers that cause the "flee" condition (Note: Rötschreck and fox frenzy flee conditions can not be overcome with this.)
