Some humans dabble into occult, and while it is mostly nothing, those that dig deep enough find their way into actual cults. One such cult exists in NOLA COTEB. It takes the ordinary life and turns it upside down, allowing a passage into world of unexplainable. Joining the cult comes with expectations of service, only the devoted prosper, the disloyal perish.

COTEB = Collections Outset Trust & Educational Benefactors. A PLC that operates internationally and sponsors, funds and provides for Select Archaeological Digs, Junior Schools, High Schools, Universities and Museums. It's goal to educate and enlighten young minds, especially those from impoverished communities. Indeed the program seems successful as many Alumni from Coteb programs have joined the ranks of the Nouvelle riche, Their lot improving dramatically. Though there are incidents of many spontaneous accidental deaths of past Alumni too, these deaths have ranged from the mundane to the damn right weird, from severe haemorrhaging to Spontaneous Human combustion, one former Coteb member even Exploded like a bomb.

COTEB = Coteb, an ancient Germanic River God and patron god of the North Rhine area. His ancient seat of power lays in the modern town of Xanten (German pronunciation: [ˈksantən], Lower Franconian Santen) in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, located in the district of Wesel.Xanten is known for the Archaeological Park, one of the largest archaeological open air museums in the world, built at the site of the Roman settlements Colonia Ulpia Traiana. Other attractions include the medieval town centre with Xanten Cathedral, many museums and large man-made lakes for various watersport activities. Xanten is visited by approximately one million tourists a year.

COTEB = Both of the above. The "modern" Earth name of a fallen angel of unimaginable power. Coteb is an Earthbound and is located in the curators office in the New Orleans Museum. His celestial name is known to only other earthbound and fallen angels, his True Name is only known to the WILL OF COTEB in each cell. Coteb's reliquary is a magnificent statue of an octopus faced dragon, made of Jade and precious materials it can store a huge amount of faith. C.O.T.E.B the organization has a large number of cults world wide dedicating rituals to Coteb meaning this particular Earthbound has an enormous pool of faith to draw upon.

THE CULT OF COTEB
The Cult Of Coteb is a world spanning cult with cells operating in almost every major city in the world. The official ,Headquarters is Wesel Germany. The front for the cult is that of the Collections Outset Trust & Educational Benefactors. A well funded organization even without the supernatural "Wealth Generation" of Coteb himself, many charities fund the museums and archaeological digs of C.O.T.E.B.
The Cult Of Coteb consists of high ranking government officials, movie stars, scientists and other powerful movers who all owe their success to the benevolence of Coteb. For some it was gifting them with attributes, others it was removing obstacles and rivals in their chosen field.

The Cult Of Coteb have unwavering loyalty and devotion to one another, the most zealous are willing to die for the cult, those who have been with the cult a long time do not fear death, for many have witnessed a miracle of Coteb in the form of resurrection of fallen cult members. However Coteb does not perform such miracles for the reckless or those who have not proven their devotion, and not all resurrected cult members return with their sanity intact.

C.O.T.E.B the business has many subsidiaries that work for Coteb, the truth of this is that each subsidiary is led by a fallen demon loyal to Coteb. These subsidiaries are rightly in fear of Coteb and serve him loyally with out question. The known subsidiaries of Coteb are all fallen of the house Lammasu (Defilers)

COTEB CELL RANK STRUCTURE
The cult is organized in a pyramid type structure. The will of coteb sits atop the pyramid while the Initiates form the foundation.

THE WILL OF COTEB

This is the leader of the cult, Chosen by Coteb himself to lead, they have shown unshakeable faith in Coteb and have passed every test made of them. They are the ones the Oracles look to for Guidance.

ORACLES:

Oracles are the leaders of the "Aspects" of Coteb. There are six aspects, each represents an area of responsibility.

DISCIPLES:

Disciples are those who have fully proven their loyalty and dedication to Coteb. Disciples are dedicated to a singular "Aspect" of the cult, having won favour among one of the Oracles.

ACOLYTES:

Acolytes have began their long journey on the path of Coteb and are eager to prove themselves to the Oracles and to the Will Of Coteb. They are a step above initiate, and so have some authority over them.

INITIATES:

Initiates are those who have passed their initiation phase, however they still have a long way to go before being fully accepted. The cult is a hierarchy with the Will Of Coteb and the Oracles Of The Aspect at the top, and the Initiates at the bottom.

ASPECTS OF COTEB
Aspects are divisions responsible for a particular line of work.

HAND OF COTEB:

The hand is the warrior part of the cult, the fighters, the assassins, the torturers. They can be found in military units, police swat units as well as in street gangs. They are not only capable fighters but they also demonstrate battlefield presence and command, and are capable of marshalling support and aid from others.

SPIRIT OF COTEB:

This aspect is generally reserved for matters of faith. It organises and performs rituals designed to pass faith onto Coteb. It also keeps an eye open within the cult for those who are -struggling- with their faith. One aspect of the cult that is very "inward" focused. It is designed to serve Coteb and the Will Of Coteb, making sure the cult is purged of any heretical thoughts or practices.

EYES OF COTEB:

Simply put, Eyes are spies, gathering intelligence and engaging in espionage. They tend to work in the police force, government security agencies and even the military, however they can just as easily be found running private eye firms. Others prefer the more "Risqué" professions such as prostitution or escorting, in order to hear all that glorious "pillow talk"

BLOOD OF COTEB:

TRIGGER WARNING: Forced Breeding, Sexual experimentation are likely within this aspect. NPC's may be used as potential victims, player characters who wish victimhood to this group must implicitly consent. SKIP THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF SUCH THINGS ARE A TRIGGER FOR YOU.

The Nephilim were the offspring of demons and human women. They are the result of demons serving under Abaddon and Asmodeus, raping imprisoned human women during the Time of Babel. They possessed the gifts of man and the Lores of demons and were terrible to behold - if not for their hideous countenance, then for their potential. Some may have been born with benevolent, gentle spirits and took it upon themselves to guide and enlighten, but many were born knowing only hate and tyranny. In a few short years, they dominated the cities of their birth. They hunted down and killed the Ten and were then in turn hunted down and killed by Lucifer and his demon followers. Coteb expressed a desire to repeat the experiment, hoping for different results. The Blood Of Coteb searches for mortals whom may in their blood hold some trace Nephilim element, who may prove to be compatible material for Coteb's seed, For Coteb to raise a Nephilim army. Needless to say this group exist in all walks of life, scanning for potential hosts for Coteb's progeny. What qualifies as "Nephilim" descendant is questionable, a lot of the knowledge was lost in the great flood, though supernatural ability or sensitivity among "mortals" may be an indicator. Blood of Coteb tend to favour medical practices and experimentation. Most of the Cult's Doctors of medicine are found in this particular aspect.

VOICE OF COTEB:

The Voice of Coteb are the corrupters, first appearing as benevolent charity, it's goal is to simply recruit as many people to the cult as possible, baby steps are used to achieve this, First C.O.T.E.B the organization makes itself present in the community, giving generously to the needy and the poor, it then works to insidiously convert people to Cult Of Coteb. Voice of Coteb tend to operate in or in close connection to charities. The Voice of Coteb also organize the press arm of C.O.T.E.B, they also design the branding. In this century they have a huge online presence and are responsible for many lectures and C.O.T.E.B Talks that are streamed live free of charge. The voice is heavily invested in -new- media, and has Cambridge Analytica levels of influence. Media, Marketing, Merchandise is the mundane job of the Voice. The cult role is simply to corrupt minds and win souls and faith for Coteb.

POWER OF COTEB:

The power of Coteb exists to acquire power for the cult, that may be property, it may be buying a business, it may be investing in stock that will be desperately needed should a disaster befall a large amount of the population. ((Coteb makes disasters fairly easily)), The power also seeks artifacts and relics with which to arm the cult. Banking, Politics, Auction Houses and Archaeological research are the many seemingly mundane areas in which this aspect operates.

COMMANDMENTS OF COTEB

Thou Shall have no other God before Coteb.

The Will of Coteb will be obeyed.

Thou shall allow no tarnish to the name of Coteb.

Thou shall multiply the worship of Coteb.

Thou shall find no sacrifice too large for Coteb.

The enemy of Coteb must be destroyed in body, in spirit and in mind.

Traitors must die a thousand deaths and suffer a thousand tortures and be given no safe harbour.

To thine aspect be true.

Coteb giveth and Coteb taketh away. The gifts of Coteb are as permanent as thy devotion to Coteb.

To die for Coteb, is to be reborn to Coteb. Thy devotion is a promise of immortality.

The commandments are NOT optional. These are the commandments of the source of the powers and relics and gifts. Number three is vitally important as it implies that one should be discrete and at least use disguises when engaging in larger operations. "Secrecy" is key. Revealing the existence or putting human faces to the Earthbound greatly undermine his will.
​

Warning: Earthbound cults are likely to cover extreme topics of an adult nature and have adult roleplays of graphic, violent and sexual nature. This line of roleplay is not suitable for everyone, and a degree of maturity is expected when roleplaying these themes.
Limits must always be respected and fade to black is an option. However as a Servant of an Earthbound Tormented God, the cult is not for the feint of heart or the squeamish. Likewise because of the secrecy and plotting it is not an organization that will suit "murder hobo's" who just want PVP bonuses. The cult will provide intrigue and mystery as well as storylines.

NOTE: Unlike other factions , progression is a matter of -service- to the cult.
Characters who do not play as loyalists are likely to be purged from the ranks. (Why would an ancient Earthbound God who exists to reap faith from its loyal followers, tolerate the presence of non believers and heretics within its own devoted cult, after all?)

There will be at least one plot per calendar month for the cult as well as smaller quests for individual members.
Cult members are expected also to recruit potential to the cult and generate roleplay for themselves that advances the cults goals.
ORACLES: Are tasked with providing storylines for the particular Aspect of the cult they oversee.
XP AWARDS NPC VICTIMS
NPC'S who play victims of the cult will be rewarded with XP. However we do expect such NPC's to have relatively few scene limits.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

REGULAR HUMANS ONLY
The cult is exclusively Human only. No cross splatting is permitted. No hunters, No Gifted, No Sorcerers, No Mages, No Kinfolk, No Kinain, No Ghouls, No Revenants, No Projectors, No Consorts.
The Cult provides enough Infernal Gifts, Evocations, Relics and Rituals to more than compensate for the lack of any edges these other support splats provide.

APPLICATION AND PROMOTION IS PURELY IN CHARACTER
All applications and rank promotions happen with the cult leaders IC approval only.

By Joining the cult you agree you understand the terms & conditions listed above and will honour the consequences of your actions.
We don't want to control your roleplay, but do ask you to understand the role you are applying for as well as the consequences for not following the laws ic.
​
You accept that your characters actions are known to the Earthbound. Once you join the cult , you are monitored by the earthbound itself. Canonically its impossible to infiltrate a cult as a spy with out the Earthbound's knowledge.
​
LEAVING THE CULT
There are only two options for leaving. Consider this before signing up.
-
leave the cult with a complete and full memory wipe, without gifts or powers or xp refund, though flaws remain. Earthbound grant gifts and secrets for service, they take away gifts and secrets for betrayal. An Earthbound is powerful enough to casually kill a mortal with a mere thought. It has no reason to let a character just walk away with powers and knowledge it has granted. There are ZERO independent thralls who retain their gifts and knowledge, Earthbound are too darned powerful to let that happen.

Consent to permadeath of your character and be refunded the xp you spent on cult gifts and powers. This is done in order to create a character unrelated to the cult.

While "Fallen" are currently unplayable in Nocturne, IF they ever become playable, and that's a big IF, They will be as prestige class. The prerequisite will be membership of the cult and loyalty there after. This is for for the same reason there are no playable Sabbat, Spectre, Black Spiral Dancer, Thalian or Marauder types. There are no exceptions and numerous reasons for why such a restriction would apply. The lesser of these being an Earthbound on sim would detect any Elohim that were working against it, or for themselves :p. The greater of these being the cult serves as a learning grounds for learning of the history of the fallen which would be fundamental to -playing- such chars convincingly. There are plenty of alternative species to explore if this is a deal breaker.
