The Watch is one of the larger Conspiracies that spans across North America. It was found in 1950s and since then been recruiting people to fight for the common cause. Some say that it was made by a War Veteran, others say that it's a pet project of some rich philanthropist, while other theories speak of it being more like Illuminati. In the end no one knows who created the Watch because it's founder or founders were too careful to let that to be known.

Why the Conspiracy? While organizations like Cheiron, Society of Leopold, First Light, Arcanum, and many others still exist in Lore it proven to be very hard to have each of those as a separate entities, often lacking leadership, bases, and staff coverage. This is why we went with a single conspiracy that has a room for most character archetypes while removing those factions extremist natures, allowing for more player interactions.

The Goals

The Watch has one goal, to stand against supernatural forces, physically and metaphorically. This conspiracy is aware that there are people that are enslaved and terrorized by the supernaturals, be it vampires, zombies, witches, or the shape-shifters. They also know that their enemies are strong and have their clutches in businesses, politics, and even religions. This is why The Watch recognizes that they may not simply go out and expose the supernaturals to the world, because that would be a death sentence to them, their loved ones, everyone involved in bae of operation and possibly lead to global war. No one wants millions of deaths on their hands, and thats why The Watch fights the supernaturals in shadows.

The Watch fights for the control, trying to keep supernaturals out of offices and businesses on higher level, as well as hunts them on a streets. However after about 70 years of operation the Conspiracy recognized that not all supernaturals are equally bad, same as not all humans are good. This is why while most supernaturals wont be trusted and none will ever be invited to join them, the The Watch are not fanatics that seek to destroy all supernatural, not all of them anyways.

Besides seeking and destroying The Watch have expanded into the other spheres over the years, developing their own research labs and even artifact hunters. There are numerous times when a supernatural is captured instead of destroyed for the research.

Recruits

Who does The Watch recruits? People that been hurt by supernaturals in some ways (Survivors) are usually the prime targets, however they do not stop there. Gifted or those that posses Faith are often approached too as their powers prove to be very useful. The Watch sends out it's Scouts to recruit potential candidates, as well as having informants around the city that might just pitch in how to contact them to the right person.

Structure

The Watch had decades to refine it's structure and to expand, what came in result of that is a multi layered, multi purpose organization that uses business and social fronts for cover up.

The Watch always have the executive director in the city (Usually an ST held position), as well as heads of the 4 departments.

Intelligence Department: individuals that are in this department are also known as the Scouts. They are the ones that go out into a field to find new recruits, perform surveillance on potential targets, collect and exchange information. They are however very careful on what they share with others, usually letting their companions on the most necessary bits. They are also the ones responsible for running Conspiracy Net.

Arms Department: the people in this department are the muscle of the Conspiracy. They are usually the ones that train the most in combat and are at the front lines when things get dangerous. They are the ones responsible for the security of the HQ and Cells.

Research Department: home for the inventors, doctors, technicians of the Conspiracy. This department is the one that is responsible for performing the tests, finding out their mortals weaknesses, and even inventing new gadgets and augments for their fellow members of the Watch. (Our take on Cheiron)

Librarians Department: this department does not only dabble in books and lore but also in collecting artifacts and seeing how they may be replicated. The individuals here are the ones that uncover mysteries and even work out secrets of magic, which is later used to add to the ever expanding arsenal of the Conspiracy. (Our take on Arcanum)

The Cells are a groups of Conspiracy members that often work together and may even have their own small base of operation. This may be due to them being close friends or even due to their similar beliefs or matching of individual goals.

Here is the list of some more established hunter cells in lore that you may play: While all cells are apt with dealing with most supernatural types, the individual cells below specialize in a particular -type- of supernatural.

  • Maiden's Blood Sisterhood: an all female cell that was founded by cheerleaders that want to protect college and university campuses from the supernaturals. Focus "Vampires"

  • The Long Night: comprised of Christians that believe that Armageddon has came and that they are part of holy army that must fight off  the darkness or make them repent.

  • The Bear Lodge: is a group if of people that had suffered losses or survived in dire times. They recognize that the most dangerous supernaturals must be hunted. Focus "Werewolves"

  • Null Mysteriis: group of scientists and professionals who use science and logic to determine the truth behind the creatures of darkness.

INSTRUMENTS

The Conspiracy uses a variety of weaponry, artifacts, and even science to achieve their goals. Those things are called Instruments. These Instruments may grow in number through in world progression, be it Science Department research, or Librarians study.

As the conspiracy has one foot in the world of the supernatural, Delerium and The Fog Of Wraith does not affect them.

Conspiracy also makes use of Conspiracy net with certain level clearance per member for security measure. This can be accessed in world HQ.

Who to Trust?

The members of The Watch have a few rules on who they usually trust and how much. Firstly the The Watch could work with other large Conspiracies such as Cheiron or Society of Leopold but only in limited manner and if it is absolutely necessary. To put it simply The Watch does not condone methods of those Conspiracies, like Cheiron putting kill chips into their members heads, or how church is responsible for countless innocent lives being lost in their crusades. The Watch seeks to provide a more balanced existence for their members, where they do not need to fear having their head explode or to be careful who do they sleep with because their organization might not approve.

What about the supernaturals? A few individuals might have supernatural contacts but this is one of those taboos that is ok as long as you don't advertise it, keep it completely secret, and know that one supernatural being alright of a guy does not excuse all of them. To put it simply, if the member of the conspiracy is friendly with most supernaturals, then perhaps they should seek to retire their position.

Each other? While most Cells trust each other, on higher level there are much clearance restrictions, with not all information being readily available due to the risk of someone being compromised by the supernaturals.
