Nocturne V.2
A World of Darkness Sim

WRAITH ESSENCE :PATHOS
Pathos All wraiths possess a pool of emotional energy with which they power their Arcanoi and heal their ectoplasmic Corpus.

STARTING PATHOS
-
A wraith begins play each night with 1 point of pathos per PATHOS RANK
-
A wraith may purchase additional PATHOS RANKS with XP

SPENDING PATHOS
A wraith can spend Pathos in the following ways.
-
ARCANOI USE: The cost associated with Arcanoi are listed within the Arcanoi itself. Arcanoi are generally -heavy- pathos cost, more so than most species. A wraith should prioritise gaining pathos in RP and increasing their PATHOS RANK with xp if she does not want to find herself running out of juice suddenly.
-
LOWER SHROUD DIFFICULTY: Sometimes a wraith on the other side of the shroud can find the barrier between worlds too strong to elicit the effect they desire easily. For each extra point of pathos spent on an Arcanos use the wraith can lower the difficulty of the shroud by 3 for that one individual roll. (To a minimum of shroud level 1, therefore the maximum pathos that may be spent in this way is 3 pathos)
-
SHADOW: If you shadow spends pathos while in control, the pathos is STILL spent. (Note: Shadow Will Spend Angst usually, but there may be rare instances where it needs to spend pathos, this situations are marked where relevant.)

HEALING:
-
A wraith can spend 1 point of pathos to heal 1 point of health lost to bashing damage.
-
A wraith can spend 2 points of pathos to heal 1 point of health lost to lethal damage.
-
A wraith can spend 3 points of pathos to heal 1 point of health lost to aggravated damage.

GAINING PATHOS
-
A wraith begins each day with his Pathos pool replenished.
-
A wraith can gain pathos by indulging in his passions.
-
A wraith cannot gain more than 10 pathos in excess of his PATHOS RANK any excess is simply lost. However a Wraith may top up as frequently as they like per night and therefore have no daily limit, other than they always begin each night with 1 pathos per PATHOS RANK + 1 pathos per Memorium level this means a wraith with PATHOS RANK 10 and MEMORIUM RANK 5 could start with 15 spendable pathos each night and could potentially have 20 spendable pathos at PATHOS RANK 10 though gaining pathos.

WRAITH BALANCE : ANGST
ANGST is a Wraiths balance, it is anxiety or dread. It is also through this that the Shadow may wrest control from the psyche (the player character).
STARTING ANGST: Angst starts at zero each day. It is automatically reset to zero each new day.
GAINING ANGST: You gain angst in the following ways.
-
Using an Arcanoi that gives your Angst.
-
Accepting a helping hand from your shadow. (See Helping Hand below)
-
Shadow indulging in its Dark Passions (Passively)
-
Using Angst in Lieu of Pathos. (Anything you would normally spend Pathos on, you can instead choose to GAIN 1 Angst per point of pathos you would have spent.
-
A mage using entropy effects rather than spirit... is a disaster in the making. Gain 1 Angst per Entropic success (damage whatever) applied. A mage foolish enough to use Entropy on Wraith is -asking- for an army of shadow eaten to devour them.
LOSING ANGST: The only way to lose Angst is to allow the shadow to burn it off for you, or wait until the following sunrise. The shadow can burn off angst when it is in control in the following ways.
-
Indulge in its dark passion (Actively)
-
Spend Angst to use Arcanoi in pursuit of its dark passion.
-
Any botch a shadow makes while in control removes 1 angst.
-
Spend Angst to heal itself in a manner similar to spending pathos however this requires a roll. (See Cake Or Death below.)
-
Entering a harrowing will always reset Angst to zero upon completion. (Baring a botch)

CAKE OR DEATH
When the shadow is in control and only a single point of health remains the shadow may decide to heal itself in order to fulfil its dark passion, or it may decide a corpus harrowing will be more beneficial.
ROLL: 20+ minus CURRENT ANGST (The higher the shadows current angst, the more likely it is to want to fulfil its dark passion)
DIFFICULTY: ACTIVE DARK PASSION STRENGTH + 10
SUCCESS: The shadow spends a point of Angst to heal 1 point of bashing damage or 2 points of Angst to heal 1 point of lethal damage or 3 points of Angst to heal 1 point of aggravated damage.
FAILURE: The shadow is content to allow its health to continue to decrease and does not spend Angst to heal the wraiths health.
BOTCH: The shadow will happily throw the wraith into corpus harrowing, even going so far as to push itself through solid barriers in order to
reduce its health to zero.

THE SHADOW: HELPING HAND
Sometimes the shadow will offer a little help, it will offer to make things easier for the wraith character, all the character has to do is accept this helping little hand.... However this often comes with a price, letting the shadow take a little more control. The shadow will offer you a little help at first, after all it does not want you to totally win the day and not need its help further. So it will give you a little taste for a very high price, but the next time during a scene when you need help, it will offer you a little more help, at a lower price. Finally it will offer you a lot of help at a very low price.

CORPUS
WRAITH, are special creatures, their body is composed of PLASM and they have the unique ability to spend their Corpus to power Arcanoi or pass through solid objects in the Skinlands. A wraiths health is therefore greater than creatures of flesh and blood. Instead of 5+ Stamina as the creatures health, a wraiths health is 10 + Stamina.

SPENDING HEALTH
-
A wraith can spend health when required by Arcanoi.
-
A wraith can spend 1 point of health to pass through a solid object in the Skinlands.
-
Health that is spent in the above two ways is considered bashing damage.
-
A wraith who has lost all of her health levels to bashing damage becomes wavering, Flickering and fragile. a single point of lethal or aggravated damage while in this state will provoke a Corpus Harrowing, two more points of bashing damage will also provoke a corpus harrowing.

HEALING:
-
By default wraith heal their wounds at the same rate as mortals.
-
The wraith may heal via spending pathos as described in the pathos section.
-
The other option is called Slumbering. Any interruption forces the process to start over with no benefit. A wraith may also use this time toward healing aggravated damage.

SLUMBERING:
-
A wraith may opt to heal damage by Slumbering otherwise they recover health at the same rate of mortals.
-
The wraith must approach one of his Fetters and fade into it.
-
He must spend 1 turn per dot of fetter strength to heal 1 x fetter strength points of Bashing Damage.
-
He must spend 1 scene per dot of fetter strength to heal 1 x fetter strength points of Lethal Damage.
-
In order to heal Aggravated damage the wraith must spend 1 turn per dot of fetter strength and at the end of this period make a roll.
SYSTEM:
ROLL: STAMINA + FETTER STRENGTH:
DIFFICULTY: 10 + 1 per point of health to heal.
SUCCESS: Each success heals 1 aggravated damage.
