ARCANOI

 

The dangerous, bizarre, and unique powers wraiths possess are known as Arcanoi, and you have five dots to spread among them. Starting characters cannot have more than three dots in any given Arcanos. Expertise in a particular Arcanos may also imply membership in a particular Guild devoted to that power. Arcanos powers are split into Common and Initiate varieties. The former can be learned by any wraith, while the latter are largely restricted to members of a particular Guild.

Rather than have Player realize a little too late that they chose Arcanoi that were not particularly useful for their chosen adventure type.. we have organized the Arcanoi by color.

NOTE: This does not mean the abilities cannot cross the shroud, but they are definitely MORE beneficial in some places than in others. The color code exists to allow you to make an INFORMED decision upon character creation.

NOTE: If you decide you are going to play a "Skinlands " Chronicle and build your character in a manner fitting such, one should not be surprised when "Underworld" characters who are designed to affect wraith are more adept at dealing with severe breaches of the Dictum Mortuum. 

Wraith characters are inescapably part of two worlds, players need to realize this and recognize home turf advantage of those that inhabit either.

COLOR MEANING: If you intend to spend a majority of your time affecting Skinlands (Note: Dictum Mortuum and NEED for strong fetters)

COLOR MEANING: If you are more interested in dealing with wraith matters such as other chars shadows and wraithy abilities in the underworld.

COLOR MEANING: If you wish to generalize, not powerful nor ineffective in either realm.

ARCANOI ACCESS

Some guilds have strong relationships and traditionally share knowledge among each other.

This means members of the guilds have access to the INITIATE Arcanoi listed. All wraith have access to COMMON Arcanoi.

​

NOTE: OUTLAWED GUILDS: Outlaw guilds have no problem operating or recruiting within Bartaria Bay. The outlaw status of guilds does not prevent you playing one. Their status as outlaws may become significant in a social sense, if an NPC  member of the Hierarchy from Stygia decides to visit and interacts with the outlaw guild character, though in Bataria Bay there is an agreement with the governor that they are allowed to operate. The  Status of "OUTLAW" has more to do with Stygian Politics than anything to do with character traits associated with outlaws.

Outlaw is not code for "Bad guy like the Sabbat or Black Spiral Dancer", Bad guy like -those- examples, is SPECTRE.
