 REFERENCE CHARTS

The following information is a quick cheat sheet for area banality, victim defence rolls and attributes that are rolled along with certain arts as well as what realms are required for specific target types.

 NIGHTMARE

  • When ever your character botches a cantrip roll they can opt into taking the banality as a consequence of their botch or they can roll on the table below to see what happens to them. We have in this version of changeling skipped on the -accumulation- of nightmare points. Given the typical duration of an encounter between rival characters it became clear that way of dealing with things was simply pointless. This is fixed by being a live effect, and a chance to stave off banality as intended. You can gamble on a nightmare effect, or gain a point of banality, either way it's not something that requires a high degree of micro management or expecting people to be bound to an honour system.

  • When a character will suffer banality as a result of a botched cantrip they may roll for an effect on the table below to be stuck with for the duration of the scene, they may be stuck with multiple effects in lieu of banality, it is really up to them.

  • SYSTEM: ROLL  CURRENT BANALITY + 8 vs a Difficulty of 8+

  • OTHER USE:  As well as staving off banality you may choose a negative nightmare effect from the table below to add + 1 to a cantrip roll. The bonus applies so long as the effect does, only effects which negatively affect dice rolls count for this purpose. The maximum bonus is +5

  • BEDLAM: If you ever have more nightmare effects in play than your Glamour Rank you will pass the first threshold of Bedlam. (See Bedlam)

 MODIFIER REALMS

  • Modifier realms are never rolled, except in the case of  "Hung" Cantrips, in which TIME is added to the roll instead of the bunk bonus. The Three modifier Realms are SCENE and TIME and SEAT

  • Time, Scene, Seat cannot be used as -targeting- realms.

  • Actor , Prop, Fae, Nature are always required for their relevant target types.

 CASTING â€‹

Note: You only need to refer to the reference charts and modifier realms when you need to look things up, casting itself is rather simple.

  1. Work out which art you are going to use.

  2. Work out what target you want to effect with the art. ACTOR, PROP, NATURE, FAE.

  3. Pay the glamour cost of the cantrip

  4. Roll for Cantrip (Glamour Rank + Realm + Highest Art Rank + Art Attribute Rank)  vs characters def or versus area difficulty.

  5. Apply Success according the ART & REALM(S)  used or resolve failures and botches.
